Ben Rader is a Graduate Research Fellow with HealthMap, Boston Children’s Hospital’s Computational Epidemiology Group. Ben’s research focuses on integrating geographic and novel data in our understanding of infectious disease dynamics and surveillance. At HealthMap, he aims to transform insights from our public-facing disease prevention tools like VaccineFinder and OutbreaksNearMe to answer more basic epidemiology research questions.

Ben has a background in infectious disease epidemiology and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Epidemiology at Boston University School of Public Health. His dissertation focuses on spatiotemporal heterogeneity and bias in respiratory infection surveillance. Prior to moving to Boston, Ben worked at Northwestern’s Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease Lab where he helped manage multiple longitudinal dementia research studies. Outside the research lab, Ben is an Officer in the US Army Reserve where he works on the intersection of innovation, epidemiology, and health protection.

Ben received his MPH from Northwestern University and completed his undergraduate training in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology at Washington University in St. Louis.
